Are SmartMed services
HIPAA compliant?
Yes. With SmartMed Summit, technical and administrative
measures have been implemented to protect confidentiality
and the personal health information of patients. In
addition, SmartMed, LP maintains a full-time Director of
HIPAA Compliance who oversees policy and procedures.
What equipment do we
need?
SmartMed Summit is a web application and is not
operating-system dependent. Therefore, Windows 2000 or XP or
Mac systems can be used. All major browsers (Internet
Explorer, Netscape Navigator, Mozilla, Firefox, Safari,
Opera, etc.) are compatible. For printing and print preview
capability, Adobe Acrobat Reader is required.
What happens if the
dictation system is down?
SmartMed assigns a backup system to each account in case the
primary system fails.
What is the turnaround
time of your medical transcription?
This will be determined by the customer and stated in the
Service Agreement.
How long do you keep
our dictation and transcription records?
If
our digital dictation system is used by customer, the voice
files are kept for 3 years in SmartMed archives. All
transcribed documentation is archived for a minimum of 3
years.
What is the setup time
involved for new accounts?
Upon receiving an executed Service Agreement, report
templates and a physician list, we can usually schedule
installation and on-site training within 30 days. However,
proprietary interface design requirements may affect the
start-up time period.
